How do I navigate through Treasure Hunt?

Treasure Hunt is programmed with Flash / Actionscript. You can navigate through the game with the mouse. Some levels are easier to play with a conventional rather than an integrated mouse. In level two, a mouse is hidden where the mouse pointer changes into a hand.

When the sixth starfish is placed on the map, a small treasure chest appears. By clicking on it, the ‘big’ treasure can be seen. By clicking again, you come back to the treasure map and with ‘continue’ to the sailor’s certificate. If you move the mouse pointer on the certificate, it begins to glow; with a mouse click, it will be read aloud. The sailor’s certificate can be printed in colour by pressing the glowing ‘print’ button.

You can exit the game with Esc. For the full-screen mode, press the home key. To turn the music off, click on the eighth note in the bottom left corner of the screen.

How do I find the passwords?

For level two to six, a password is required. This password is written in cursive letters in the message of the treasure map of the former level. It is a possible homework assignment for the child to remember the password from one session to the next.

Why isn’t Treasure Hunt in 3-D? Why aren’t there animated characters?

The budget for Treasure Hunt was very limited, and without the unselfish effort of all participants, the game could never have been realized in its current form. One can argue that Treasure Hunt is “only” a drag-and-drop computer game without the added features of 3-D graphics or animation.  Although 3-D graphics and animation can be attractive features in commercial computer games, we believe they are not necessary to convey the therapeutic contents included in Treasure Hunt. Due to budgetary constraints, we had to keep the technical level simple.
